[HANASHIR:6696] CAJE Report

Overall a very positive experience performing at CAJE and meeting
wonderful people from all over the country. Yes, the planning and
organization of the event has problems that need to be addressed but
lots of things about it worked very well. Many agree that the
opening ceremonies need to be paired way down. Of course I love the
idea of lesser known performers having a chance to share a song to
break the endless speeches early on. I also like the idea of
scheduling performances during the day. It would conflict with
classes but not with other performers. Sound was a problem at many
of the arenas. Soundchecks were suppose to start at my venue at
12:30pm and at 12:45 the PA still had not been setup. When they did
set up it was clear they didn't have monitors, boomstands, stand
clips for wireless mics, or CD player. Did anybody read the tech
sound request sheets? You get the point.
A little closer attention to those kind of details would save some headache.
