[HANASHIR:6624] Re: HANASHIR digest 958

In response to the inquiry from Casey Teppo regarding two-part High Holiday
music, not "high church"... An excellent resource from which to build your
repertoire for your needs is the book "High Holiday Services for Two Part
Choir" (Mirshirei Beit Ha-Knesset, Volume 2), selcected and arranged by Harry
Coopersmith. It is available from Transcontinental. The selections are very
accessible (I do some with my teen ensemble), most not big elaborate numbers
(or they are simplified from such), and there are options with and without
cantor/soloist. There are several selections for three-part as well. All
are within the "traditional" realm, many being simplified versions of
well-known melodies.

In general, you will find much to choose from if you look at offerings from
both Transcontinental and Tara. You can go on-line with either music
publisher and look under two-part choral music, or High Holiday music. Good
luck with your new choir.
