Subject: [HANASHIR:6564] Biblical Hebrew methods of study
In preparation for cantorial entrance exams, I have registered for the only
university-level Biblical Hebrew course available in the area, only to find
that it will be taught from a book with transliterations alongside the Hebrew.
The teacher, who is a Christian grad. student, is not particularly fluent in
the reading of the language, although she understands the words and is
qualified to teach grammar and translation. I am giving consideration to
trying to find a Jewish scholar and studying privately. If anyone who has
studied Biblical Hebrew can share an illuminating experience which could help
me decide, I would appreciate it. This is pretty specific advice I am seeking,
so please e-mail me privately.
Thanks,
Rachelle Shubert
