[HANASHIR:6249] Ecstatic Experience

Dear Friends,

Ros' quote reminded me that I meant to send in this email. The ecstatic
feeling many of us experience at HN is in fact drug related, its our natural
drugs being pumped into our blood stream that give us the energy to dance
and sing for ages and inspire us to hug people (even people like Rick
Lupert!). If you talk to young people who take the drug ecstasy, this is
what they will tell you they have experienced, it is called the love drug.
It causes your neurones to flood the synapses with all stored serotonin, in
a far less controlled way than when it occurs naturally (hence nights
accompanied by the pills are followed by days of depression and tiredness).
There is growing concern that the pills will cause regular users irreparable
neurone damage and consequently mental health and mood problems in their
continuing adult lives.

Hava Nashira inspired me to start writing Jewish songs. But it also inspired
me to conceive a project 'Natural Highs through Music and Dance', aimed at
pre-teens in public day schools. The purpose of the project is to inform
young people about the potential of their bodies and the 'drugs' that their
bodies make naturally that have a positive impact on mood. Its been a five
year gestation period, and we are still at the pre-birth stage, but
fertilization has occurred and we have an embryo. (the reproductive imagery
I have used, maybe a hint that I am entering a broody stage of my life that
won't be resolved until I drop a sprog (english slang) , but lets just keep
that between you and me)

I am inviting anyone who would like to be kept informed and updated about
this project to email me PRIVATELY at Jess (at)
scocon(dot)demon(dot)co(dot)uk and I will
infrequently send out things that are developed.

Understanding these important ideas and processes and passing them on, to me
feels like a natural add on to my job as a jewish song-leader and a singer.
Perhaps you will feel this too.
so
Thanks
love
Jess

Ps I am rather fond of Rick Lupert and regard him as significantly huggable,
even when I'm not in an ecstatic experience and he is not reading poetry, in
case you were wondering.
