Thanks for the clarification. But is the purpose of recording services to
capture the spontaneity or to preserve the melodies so we can learn and use
them ourselves in our own communities? I was suggesting a compromise (again,
I'll have a better idea of the situation once I've been there). Instrument
playing and tape recording on Shabbat do not offend me in any way, but
perhaps we can cherish the memories of a very beautiful and moving Shabbat,
and preserve the melodies in another setting.
Just my "two cents" -- I won't say any more on the subject until I've been a
participant.
