Dear Judy,
Thanks so much for your note; I didn't think you were pointing a finger
at me, but when you mentioned the videotaping, I became a little concerned.
As to getting the subject out into the open: I know others had brought
it up, but I thought I had been careful in keeping my responses off the
list. I know I haven't said anything public about it since last September
(just before I bought this computer); perhaps I forwarded you a message
dealing with recording issues with the [HANASHIR:XXXX] subject line, which
seemed like a posting to this list. (I know we corresponded privately on
this a while back.) If in fact I did post to the list about the progress of
the tapes, then please allow *me* to apologize for my short memory.
My alarm in regard to your message came in part because of the growing
tension you are describing over obtaining copies of HN recordings. Because
I had tried to keep my responses off the list, I feared that those who did
not know the inner workings of the process might place the blame on
me--especially because I was the one identified at HN with the "exclusive"
right to record, and because many told me at the conference that they put
their faith in me to come through with the recordings. I felt your posting
might cause those who I had not informed personally to think I had let them
down: not a good feeling three and a half weeks before going to HN with
similar intentions to do research.
As always, Judy, I greatly value your contributions to this list and
always admire your tireless dedication and passion for Jewish music and its
artists. I learn much from you and from what you have to offer, and can
only hope that I am able to return in kind. I look forward to seeing you
soon in Oconomowoc!
Be well.
Judah.
