Dear Janet-
Why do you feel that if everyone is crying, you shouldn't? (The trick is to 
be able to sing and cry!) Don't feel you must distance your emotions. I cry 
at funerals, when I first see a bride walk down the aisle, and at parents' 
speeches at B'nei Mitzvot. 

Since your mother passed away, you truly understand the pain of grief and it 
is natural for you to share in their grief. Don't beat yourself up; the 
bereaved family probably appreciates your empathy. 

If you want something funny to think about, I was doing a funeral and the 
widower came in with his fly open. When he sat down, he saw this and audibly 
exclaimed "Oh Jesus!" Pretty funny...
