[HANASHIR:5636] Re: Year-End Evaluations

Dear David,
As a veteran NYC Music teacher, I had to get evaluated at least twice
every year by an administrator who often knew nothing about my subject.
Criticisms were based on pacing of lesson, did I accomplish my aim, how was
my classroom management, were students engaged, was I teaching to all
learning styles?...etc. If you want no comment on content, go ahead and ask
for peer evaluation. Classroom teachers are very often intimidated by music
and musicians.

My suggestion to you would be for you to self-evaluate. Make yourself a
check list of items you need to work on and things you want to make sure you
accomplish. Evaluate yourself at the end of the day (while it's still fresh
in your mind). You may want to share this check list with the teacher you
spoke of. Good Luck. Maddy
