Rich,
You've made some very good points. Yes, it is a challenge to engage Jews in
Judaism -- at every age level. And physicality (I take it you mean
movement/dancing) is certainly one way. But it is not the only way. Music is
another way -- but again, not the only way.
To bring Jews to Judaism and keep them there of their own volition, Judaism
must appeal to the human being on many levels -- physical, emotional,
spiritual, intellectual. That is why some people love a Torah study session
but hate a kumsitz, and vice versa.
Yes, we face a tremendous challenge that is as old as Judaism itself (Hey,
look what Moses had to endure with the ragtag bunch of folks he led out of
Egypt). But we are a link in that chain, and I think we are all striving to
do our best at what we do best, and to bring that gift to others. Some might
even call it a mitzvah.
