I'd like to share with the list this message that appeared on another music
related list:
"There is a music notation system, abc notation, that uses letters and
numbers to delineate tunes very well. Information can be found at:
www.gre.ac.uk/~c.walshaw/abc. This site also has links to shareware and
freeware programs for both Mac and IBM platforms that will convert abc to
and
from MIDI files and print out abc notated tunes in standard musical
notation.
There are already thousands of folk tunes notated in this manner."(from

I think there are some real possibilities for using this.
