I don't believe in changing our wonderful ancient texts just to meet our
"modern sensibilities." I don't think our current society is so wonderful
that we somehow gain a moral superiority to those in the past...we have
plenty of problems now; let's remember that just because we have a certain
level of literacy and exposure to the entire world through modern technology
and a recognition of women playing new roles in the world, we still have
plenty of violence, hatred, social problems galore, need I go on? I think
the story of Purim is just one of many reminders that G-d plays a part in
every story...then and now.
Ok, since this is a music list, how about some ideas for songs for a Purim
Party...light and easy and singable by young children?
