Just got back from a wonderful extended weekend in Memphis attending a UAHC
sponsored Seminar for Synagogue Musicians.  This particular program focused
on music for the High Holidays liturgy, or an alternate track on
cantillation. My kudos to Cantor Josee Wolff and Cantor John Kaplan at
Temple Israel in Memphis. The program was well structured and well
presented. I highly recommend attending one of these seminars if you are a
cantorial soloist or synagogue musician. Issues of admittance policies and
cantorial certification aside, these workshops demonstrate how the UAHC
Commission on Synagogue Music recognizes the realities of the real synagogue
world, and seeks to provide training, education and support for the many
people who serve their congregations as cantorial soloists, music directors,
and synagogue musicians. I hope this program continues to expand.
