[HANASHIR:5102] Re: Kosher songs

Kol B'Seder has sung (or at least introduced to me) two songs which deal
with Kashrut. The first is a spoof called "Kosher" (though I was not
familiar with the original song), which I think was Jeff Klepper's creation.
Chorus lines such as: "So when you eat--meat--it's kosher // So when you
nosh--a McIntosh--it's kosher." Etc. More than just silly, if I'm not
mistaken.

They also introduced a song to me called "Consider a Shrimp" by British
Rabbi Cliff Cohen. It's fabulous, in my opinion--a parody of "Consider
Yourself" from the musical "Oliver!" While I can't remember the whole song,
I can remember a few verses--perhaps it will jog someone else's memory?

Consider a shrimp, unclean.
Consider a prawn, something abominable.

Whatever it is we eat, we treat, meat, as something with kosher feet.
And you can try to make tidier or neater rules, but Shechita rules, okay!
And we've no use for your [xxxxx] or [xxxx] rules, just as long as we can
say. . .

Consider a dog, unfit.
Consider a toad, unsafe.
And after some consideration you can say:
Consider yourself, free from treif!

Can anyone fill in the lines?
Judah.
