[HANASHIR:5025] Michael Isaacson

In 1968, I had my one and only summer as a camper at a Jewish summer camp, and
during that summer, I had the great good fortune to sing in Michael Isaacson's
folk-rock shabbat evening service. This was at Joseph Eisner Camp in
Massachusettes, and the experience of working with, and learning from Michael
was a tremendously valuable experience, both in terms of Judaism and music. In
a word, it was about "passion".

Here was this bearded, guitar playing singer/songwriter, who was a RIPPIN'
musician! He sang great, he played great, he cared about the project, and his
music was phenomenal, outstanding, memorable. To this day, I can sing note
for note the Ahavat Olam he wrote, and I haven't heard it since Nixon's first
term.

So while I can appreciate some of the potential problems that a project like
the current one can entail, I am sure that the benefits to the participants
will far outweigh the negatives. Even if there are sound disasters, the
people who have learned Isaacson's music will have received a tremendous gift.
I wish it was happening in Oregon....

Passion....
