Kol hakavod!  Unfortunately, the two choirs I've sung with (Reform &
Conservative) have not been that way.

There is another choir concept which intrigues me, even though I've never
seen it (the closest would be Hava Nashira worship services!).  That is of
the choir which sings by ear, augmenting the shaliach tzibur through
harmonies and responses.  Sometimes I hear this during services when
several good singers sit together and let themselves be free with the
nusach and its harmonies.
