Hi all,
As an interesting aside (and perspective into the Reform movement), I am on
the committee for my synagogue searching for a new Senior Rabbi. To help
accomplish this goal, we sent out surveys asking what people like and didn;t
like about the congregation.
This congregation, mind you, was (is?) one of the stalwarts in "Classical
Reform." The current senior rabbi wears no yarmulke or tallit and we were
one of the last congregations to give up the old (small) Union Prayer Book,
having accomplished this task about four years ago. We also have a large
sanctuary with a large organ. Lewandoski, Sulzer, and Goldfarb have always
been the staples here.
Nearly one-hundred respondents to our survey (over 10%) singled out the organ
as the item they would most like to change.
Who says Reform Judaism can't move back towards the center!
