As the origin of the question regarding Shabbat Shira, I will point out
that in my congregation, we do not usually use instruments, and as Meris
Ruzow wrote, this is an opportunity to focus on song and the enhancement
of song. I will use instruments for this occasion, but the focus will
remain on the liturgy and its projection through song.
Todah rabbah to all who have offered suggestions. I'll let you know what
I end up doing.
